how fast will i actually improve my haircutting skills?
you’ll be fully equipped to take paying clients by your third month. the first two months are intensive: mannequins, live models, and shadowing seasoned barbers. we don’t waste your time.

will this help me master fades, tapers, and scissor work?
yes. we teach precision haircutting that blends the control of scissor work with the detail of clipper work. you’ll be able to move fluidly between the two.

do i need experience before joining, or is it beginner-friendly?
no experience needed. we start from the ground up.

will i get personal feedback on my haircuts?
absolutely. you’ll have a dedicated educator guiding you throughout your 12-month apprenticeship, plus feedback from the full mailroom team. we don’t let you drift.

is it all prerecorded, or are there live classes too?
you get both. some content is prerecorded so you can review on your own time, but we also hold live classes and hands-on training to keep you sharp.

can i learn at my own pace, or is there a set schedule?
we follow a structured schedule designed to build real-world confidence. you’re training for a career, not just a skill.

what tools do i need to get started?
we provide a recommended list of tools: scissors, comb, clippers, trimmers, shavers, clips, spray bottle, feather razor, blow dryer. we also supply your cape and station essentials like paper towels.

do you teach both men's and women’s haircutting?
we focus on the fundamentals of great haircutting: techniques that apply to all lengths, textures, and identities.

how long is the program?
you must acquire 1920 hours on the job at the barbershop which takes around 12 months.

what happens at the end of the 12 months?
we report these hours to the state. once you've hit your required hours, you will take a written and practical exam with the state to receive your barber license. we train you to be fully prepared for both exams.

what if i don’t feel confident cutting in front of people yet?
that’s normal. we meet you where you’re at and build your confidence with hands-on reps and encouragement from a team that’s got your back.

is there a community or group where i can get support and motivation?
yes. you’ll be part of a tight-knit group of apprentices and barbers who push each other to grow. you’re not doing this alone.

how big are the classes? will i get attention from instructors?
we keep our classes intentionally small so you get direct attention, real mentorship, and room to grow without getting lost in the crowd like you do at big hair schools.

will i be certified or licensed after i finish?
yes. you'll be licensed in south carolina as a master hair care specialist (previously called master barber).

do you help with building a portfolio or social media presence?
we do. you’ll learn how to take sharp photos and videos of your work, how to use lighting, and how to present yourself online so your work gets noticed.

how much money can i make as a barber?
entry barbers make $40-50k/yr while experienced barbers can make over $100k/yr. we show you how to build a loyal clientele, charge what your work is worth, and operate as a professional to help you get there.

do you help me find a job after graduation?
yes. we either offer you a job at MAILROOM or support you with job placement. we have strong relationships with barbershops who trust our graduates. you won’t be on your own after graduation.

how much does it cost, and is it a one-time payment or monthly?
